THE VPS FIELD GUIDE

How to choose a VPS in Iraq.

Start with your workload, not the biggest number. Here is how to choose the CPU, memory and storage for a self-managed server hosted in Erbil.

1. Size the server for what you run

A small website, bot or development service has different needs from a busy database or game server. List the software you will run, its minimum requirements and the number of people using it at the same time. Check the software publisher's requirements before ordering.

CPU cores help with work that can run in parallel. More cores do not automatically make a single-threaded application faster. RAM holds active application data; leave room for the operating system, databases and traffic spikes instead of sizing only for idle usage.

2. Separate storage from transfer

NVMe storage is the disk space available for your operating system, applications, files and logs. Transfer is data moving over the network, not extra disk capacity. Allow space for updates and growing databases, and review your actual usage after launch.

A copy on the same VPS is not an independent backup. Arrange a separate backup destination, decide how much data you can afford to lose, and test that you can restore it. Do not assume a backup service is included unless your order explicitly says so.

3. Check the route to Erbil

RapidNet's VPS location is Erbil, in Iraq's Kurdistan Region. A local server can be a useful choice for applications serving nearby users, but the route taken by each internet provider matters. Geographic distance alone cannot guarantee latency.

Before choosing a location for a latency-sensitive service, ask us for connectivity testing details and test from the networks your users actually use. The homepage map is an illustration, not a live measurement of network routes.

4. Compare the current plans

These are fixed monthly plans in USD. Their resources scale together; choosing more CPU in the homepage selector also selects the corresponding memory and disk tier.

RapidNet Erbil VPS plans
PlanCPU / RAMNVMe / transferMonthly
Rapid Start2 vCPU cores / 4 GB DDR4 RAM60 GB NVMe / 4 TB transfer$5.99
Rapid Pro4 vCPU cores / 8 GB DDR4 RAM120 GB NVMe / 8 TB transfer$14.99
Rapid Power8 vCPU cores / 16 GB DDR4 RAM240 GB NVMe / 12 TB transfer$29.99

Need a different balance of resources? Contact us before ordering so we can confirm availability and pricing. For an existing VPS, confirm the supported upgrade path and any downtime before making changes.

5. Plan for self-managed hosting

Root access gives you control over the server and also makes you responsible for its software. Keep the operating system updated, restrict access with a firewall, protect administrator accounts and monitor disk usage. Keep an off-server copy of important data.

RapidNet provides the VPS infrastructure; application installation, maintenance and troubleshooting remain your responsibility unless separately agreed. If you need assistance with a specific setup, talk to support about the scope before you purchase.

Pick a starting point. Leave room to grow.
