EMAIL SETUP
Secure email, included with your plan.
RapidNet web-hosting plans include cPanel mailboxes and storage according to the selected plan. Create accounts in cPanel, use encrypted connections, and publish the correct domain authentication records before relying on email.
1. Create the mailbox in cPanel
Open cPanel, choose Email Accounts, and create the address with a unique password. The number of accounts and per-mailbox limit depend on your hosting plan, and all mailbox data counts toward its total storage. Enable multi-factor authentication for cPanel and do not reuse the mailbox password elsewhere.
2. Point mail DNS to the hosting account
If RapidNet nameservers are authoritative for your domain, cPanel creates the normal mail records. If another DNS provider is authoritative, copy the exact MX and mail-host records shown in cPanel. Mail-related DNS records must not be placed behind a web proxy. Remove conflicting MX records only after confirming where new mail should be delivered.
3. Verify email authentication
| Record | Purpose | Important rule |
|---|---|---|
| MX | Routes incoming messages to your cPanel mail service. | Use the exact destination and priority shown for your domain. |
| SPF | Authorizes the RapidNet mail server to send for your domain. | Publish one SPF record; merge any additional authorized senders instead of creating duplicates. |
| DKIM | Publishes the key used to verify signed outgoing mail. | Use the domain-specific selector and value generated by cPanel. |
| DMARC | Defines how receivers handle messages that fail authentication. | Start with monitoring during migration and strengthen the policy after all legitimate senders pass. |
4. Use encrypted connection settings
Open Connect Devices beside the mailbox in cPanel and use the exact server name displayed there. Use IMAP with TLS on port 993, or POP3 with TLS on port 995 if you intentionally prefer downloaded mail. For outgoing mail use authenticated SMTP with TLS on port 465 or STARTTLS on port 587. The username is the complete email address. Cleartext ports 110 and 143 are not supported. Never bypass a certificate warning.
5. Open webmail safely
Use the Check Email or Open Webmail action inside cPanel. Confirm the browser shows HTTPS and a valid certificate before signing in. Do not share mailbox or cPanel credentials in a support ticket.
6. Test delivery and protect reputation
Send messages in both directions using an unrelated account and confirm SPF, DKIM, and DMARC results in the received headers. Test password recovery, attachments, replies, and delivery to more than one provider. Sending limits apply per plan. Spam, phishing, unsolicited bulk mail, compromised scripts, and attempts to evade recipient protections are prohibited.
Using an external provider is optional
You may instead use a dedicated mail provider. In that case, replace the cPanel MX and authentication records with the exact records supplied by that provider. RapidNet company email may separately use Cloudflare Email Routing and Resend; that configuration does not change customer mailbox settings.
